Canada is often regarded as one of the largest recipients of migrants. Each year, Canada accepts almost 300,000 immigrants from all over the world. It is also become a safe harbor for numerous people, seeking refuge from poverty, war, and socio-cultural discrimination. Last year, Canada accepted over 250,000 Syrian refugees in response to the impending risk of violence in their politically-charged country.
This massive migration became an extremely relevant issue in the Canadian and Toronto community. Since many of our members were immigrants who have settled in Canada, we understood the difficulties of immigration and settling into a new environment. So, we launched YYZ inbound, a project designed to assist the transition of newcomers into the Toronto ecosystem. We sold t-shirts that displayed the Toronto skyline in a bold YYZ print. Within weeks of launching the t-shirts, we received an outpouring of orders and soon we had completely sold out all of our stock. The profit accumulated from the sales of the YYZ shirts was used to fund and assemble kits containing various sources of information and supplies required to ease into the Toronto life. These kits were donated to immigrant service centers, like Costi Immigration Services and further distributed to people in need.
This year we are continuing our support of newcomers to Canada by expanding our sales and products in our YYZ Line. Once again 100% of the proceeds from the sales of the T-Shirts and Sweatshirts will be used to support newcomers to Canada.
